Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage
Hingvashtak Churna (Bh.Rtn.) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation widely used for digestive disorders, bloating, and flatulence. It is highly effective in relieving indigestion, abdominal pain, gas, constipation, and Pitta-Vata imbalance in the digestive system. The medicine improves digestive fire (Agni), aids proper bowel movements, and provides relief from bloating and acidity.
Method of Preparation :
Prepared as per Bhavprakash Nighantu guidelines using herbs and spices such as Hing (Asafoetida), Ajwain, Jeera, Saunf, Maricha, Shunthi, Pippali, and other supportive ingredients. The ingredients are dried, powdered, blended, and sieved to obtain a fine herbal churna.
Dosage :
1–3 grams, once or twice daily with lukewarm water, honey, or as directed by the physician.
Indications :
- Indigestion and loss of appetite
- Abdominal bloating and gas
- Constipation and irregular bowel movements
- Pitta-Vata digestive imbalance
- Acidity and mild abdominal discomfort
Side Effects :
Generally safe when taken under medical supervision. Overdose may cause mild gastric irritation, acidity, or nausea in sensitive individuals.
Contra Indications :
– Not suitable for children without prescription.
– Pregnant and lactating women should consult an Ayurvedic doctor before use.
– Patients with ulcers, hyperacidity, or severe gastrointestinal disorders should use cautiously.
– Excessive use may lead to strong body odor due to Asafoetida content.
