Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage
Avipattikar Churna (Bh.Rtn.) is a classical Ayurvedic herbal formulation mainly used for digestive health. It is highly effective in reducing acidity, heartburn, hyperacidity, constipation, and indigestion. The medicine helps in regulating bowel movements, improving appetite, and cleansing the digestive tract. It works by balancing Pitta dosha, cooling the system, and supporting healthy digestion and metabolism.
Method of Preparation :
Prepared as per Bhavprakash Nighantu guidelines using a combination of herbs like Trikatu (Shunthi, Maricha, Pippali), Haritaki, Amalaki, Vibhitaki, Musta, Vidanga, Ela, and sugar. The herbs are dried, powdered, blended, and sieved to obtain a fine herbal churna.
Dosage :
3–5 grams, once or twice daily with lukewarm water, milk, or as directed by the physician.
Indications :
- Acidity and heartburn
- Hyperacidity and gastritis
- Constipation and indigestion
- Pitta-related digestive disorders
- Loss of appetite and abdominal discomfort
Side Effects :
Generally safe when taken under medical supervision. Overdose may cause diarrhea or abdominal cramps in sensitive individuals.
Contra Indications :
– Not suitable for children without prescription.
– Pregnant and lactating women should consult an Ayurvedic doctor before use.
– Patients with chronic diarrhea, dehydration, or severe weakness should use cautiously.
– Should not be consumed in excessive quantity as it may cause electrolyte imbalance.
