Abhayadi (Kwath) Kadha is a classical Ayurvedic medicine commonly prescribed for mild to moderate constipation, reducing hard stools in piles, and managing anal fissures. It is also beneficial in gas, flatulence, abdominal distension, and dysuria. The formulation improves appetite, enhances digestion, and balances Vata and Pitta doshas.

Method of Action:
Abhayadi (Kwath) Kadha promotes proper bowel movement by improving peristalsis and digestion. It reduces constipation, softens stool, and prevents straining. In piles, it reduces venous swelling and helps in healing. In anal fissures, it prevents recurrence of hard stools and provides long-term relief when combined with local application like Jatyadi Oil.
Dosage & Administration:
- Infants (Up to 12 Months): 0.5 ml
- Toddler (1–3 yrs): 1 ml
- Preschooler (3–5 yrs): 2.5 ml
- Grade-schooler (5–12 yrs): 5–10 ml
- Teenager (13–19 yrs): 15–20 ml
- Adults (19–60 yrs): 30 ml
- Geriatric (Above 60 yrs): 20 ml
Maximum Possible Dosage: 60 ml per day (in divided doses).
When to Take: Twice a day with equal amount of water, immediately after food.
Safety Profile:
Abhayadi (Kwath) Kadha is prepared with safe herbal ingredients and can be used for both short-term and long-term treatments. Generally well tolerated with no significant side effects when taken as recommended.
Side Effects:
No major side effects reported. In rare cases, it may cause loose stools, especially in patients with Pitta body type or when used unnecessarily in individuals with normal bowel movement.
Contra Indications:
- Pregnant and lactating women should avoid use.
- Should not be used without medical advice in children below 5 years.
