Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage
Triphala Churna (Sha.San.) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation made from three fruits: Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), and Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica). It is highly effective in promoting digestive health, detoxifying the body, improving bowel regularity, boosting immunity, and supporting overall vitality. The medicine works by balancing all three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), enhancing digestive fire (Agni), and maintaining healthy metabolism.
Method of Preparation :
Prepared as per Sharangdhar Samhita guidelines by drying the three fruits, powdering them, and blending in equal proportions to obtain a fine herbal churna.
Dosage :
3–5 grams, once or twice daily with lukewarm water, honey, or as directed by the physician.
Indications :
- Constipation and irregular bowel movements
- Digestive issues like bloating, acidity, and indigestion
- Detoxification and cleansing of the digestive system
- Low immunity and recurrent infections
- General health and vitality support
Side Effects :
Generally safe when taken under medical supervision. Overdose may cause loose motions or mild gastric discomfort in sensitive individuals.
Contra Indications :
– Not suitable for children without prescription.
– Pregnant and lactating women should consult an Ayurvedic doctor before use.
– Patients with chronic diarrhea, severe dehydration, or digestive ulcers should use cautiously.
– Should be avoided in excessive doses to prevent electrolyte imbalance.
