Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage
Pathyadi Guggul (Bh.Pra) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation primarily used for digestive, urinary, and musculoskeletal disorders. It is highly effective in managing obesity, indigestion, constipation, arthritis, joint pain, and metabolic disorders. The medicine works by balancing Vata and Kapha doshas, improving digestive fire (Agni), detoxifying the body, and supporting healthy metabolism.
Method of Preparation :
Prepared as per Bhavprakash Nighantu guidelines using Guggul (Commiphora mukul) along with herbs like Pathya, Trikatu (Shunthi, Maricha, Pippali), Haritaki, Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and other supportive ingredients. The herbs and guggul are carefully processed, blended, and formed into guggul tablets.
Dosage :
1–2 tablets, once or twice daily with lukewarm water, milk, or as directed by the physician.

- Obesity and weight management
- Indigestion, constipation, and loss of appetite
- Arthritis, joint pain, and musculoskeletal disorders
- Urinary and metabolic disorders
- Vata-Kapha dosha imbalance
Side Effects :
Generally safe when taken under medical supervision. Overdose may cause mild gastric irritation, diarrhea, or nausea in sensitive individuals.
Contra Indications :
– Not suitable for children without prescription.
– Pregnant and lactating women should consult an Ayurvedic doctor before use.
– Patients with severe liver, kidney, or gastrointestinal disorders should use cautiously.
– Should be avoided in aggravated Pitta without medical supervision.
