Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage
Ashwagandha Churna (A.Bh.) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation made from the root of Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), a powerful adaptogen and rejuvenative herb. It is highly effective in reducing stress, anxiety, weakness, and fatigue. It supports strength, stamina, and immunity while promoting sound sleep and overall vitality. The medicine works by balancing Vata dosha, calming the mind, strengthening the nervous system, and nourishing body tissues.
Method of Preparation :
Prepared as per Ayurvedic Bhavprakash guidelines by drying the roots of Ashwagandha, powdering them finely, and sieving to obtain a smooth herbal churna.
Dosage :
3–5 grams, once or twice daily with warm milk, ghee, honey, or as directed by the physician.
Indications :
- Stress, anxiety, and insomnia
- General weakness and fatigue
- Low strength, stamina, and vitality
- Immunity booster and rejuvenator
- Nervous system weakness and Vata imbalance
Side Effects :
Generally safe when taken under medical supervision. Overdose may cause mild gastric irritation or loose motions in sensitive individuals.
Contra Indications :
– Not suitable for children without prescription.
– Pregnant and lactating women should consult an Ayurvedic doctor before use.
– Patients with hyperthyroidism or severe gastric issues should use cautiously.
– Should be avoided in case of excessive heat (Pitta aggravation) in the body without medical advice.
