Sesame oil is commonly used for massage, Shirodhara, and other therapies to calm the mind, induce relaxation, improve sleep, and relieve headaches.

- Used as a base for many medicated oils in Panchakarma treatments such as Basti.
- Sesame paste is used internally and externally for wound application.
- Sesame oil–based preparations are used for nasal instillation and as ear drops.
