Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage

Bilvadi Churna (Bh.Rtn.) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation primarily used for digestive and metabolic disorders. It is highly effective in managing constipation, indigestion, abdominal discomfort, bloating, and anorexia. The medicine works by balancing Vata and Pitta doshas, improving digestive fire (Agni), regulating bowel movements, and promoting healthy metabolism.

Method of Preparation :

Prepared as per Bhavprakash Nighantu guidelines using herbs such as Bilva (Aegle marmelos), Haritaki, Amalaki, Musta, and other supportive ingredients. The herbs are cleaned, dried, powdered, blended, and sieved to obtain a fine herbal churna.

Dosage :

2–3 grams, once or twice daily with lukewarm water, honey, or as directed by the physician.

Indications :

• Constipation and irregular bowel movements
• Indigestion and loss of appetite
• Abdominal discomfort and bloating
• Vata-Pitta imbalance affecting digestion
• Metabolic and gastrointestinal support

Side Effects :

Generally safe when taken under medical supervision. Overdose may cause loose stools or mild gastric discomfort in sensitive individuals.

Contra Indications :
– Not suitable for children without prescription.
– Pregnant and lactating women should use only under medical advice.
– Patients with diarrhea, dehydration, or severe gastrointestinal disorders should use cautiously.
– Should be avoided in excessive doses to prevent electrolyte imbalance.
