Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage
Chitrakadi Vati (Cha.Datt.) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation mainly used to improve digestion and appetite. It is highly effective in managing indigestion, loss of appetite, bloating, gas, abdominal pain, and Ama-related disorders. This medicine stimulates Agni (digestive fire), clears toxins, and balances Vata and Kapha doshas, thereby improving overall digestive health.
Method of Preparation :
Prepared as per Chakradatta guidelines using herbs such as Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica), Ajwain, Pippali, Maricha, Shunthi, Hingu, Trikatu, and other digestive herbs. The ingredients are processed, blended, and made into tablet form following traditional Ayurvedic methods.
Dosage :
1–2 tablets, once or twice daily with lukewarm water, buttermilk, or as directed by the physician.
Indications :
- Indigestion and weak digestion
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal pain, bloating, and gas
- Ama-related digestive disorders
- Kapha-Vata imbalance affecting digestion
Side Effects :
Generally safe when taken under medical supervision. Overdose may cause burning sensation, acidity, or gastric irritation in sensitive individuals.
Contra Indications :
– Not suitable for children without prescription.
– Pregnant and lactating women should avoid unless prescribed by an Ayurvedic doctor.
– Patients with hyperacidity, ulcers, or gastritis should use cautiously under medical advice.
